Sustainability

We’ve made a plan to be climate positive by 2025 and carbon neutral by 2022. To date, we’ve taken some big steps on that road.

All our fabrics are made with recycled materials. For Silky Mesh and Re:Play, we reclaimed nylon scraps from manufacturing and turned them into the softest, silkiest certified-recycled underwear out there. Universal is the first-ever carbon-neutral seamless underwear. They are also all OEKO-TEX certified which means they contain no toxic chemicals--better for you and the planet.

Our mailers are made from recycled materials and are recyclable.

We are actively working to reduce our carbon footprint across our entire supply chain. But, we know for certain things (like shipping) we also have to look to carbon offsets. We work with high-quality partners like Native and Less to contribute to climate projects around the world.

We know how important transparency is to you because it’s important to us, too. If you have any ideas, questions, or feedback—reach out to us at help@yourparade.com. We’d love to hear from you!

Before our founders started Parade, they looked all over the world for factories that fulfilled the highest ethical standards and also could make incredible underwear at a great price.

We work with factories in Vietnam, China, and Turkey, who are all OEKO-TEX and Sedex certified. Each of our factories must sign a Supplier Code of Business Integrity, which covers environmental and social responsibility. We are working closely with them to become SA8000 or WRAP certified, to make sure they meet the highest standards for social and economic well-being for their workers.

We audit our factories on an annual basis with amfori BSCI, an independent organization that works to improve social performance in global supply chains. Each of our factories must sign a Supplier Code of Business Integrity, which covers environmental and social responsibility. We are working closely with them to become SA8000 or WRAP certified, to make sure they meet the highest standards for social and economic well-being for their workers.

We are also passionate about working with our factories to become more sustainable and look forward to sharing more information about that work with you in the future.

In an effort to reach a zero-waste future, we collect the waste left over in industrial production and put it through a heating and cooling process, before it gets pressed into recycled chips, and then spun into yarns which are then knit into the final fabric.

Our mailer is made of 100% recycled materials and is recyclable. To find a soft plastic recycler near you, go here.

All of the paper materials you receive from Parade are also made of recycled paper.

Climate positive means that you remove more carbon from the atmosphere than you emit. We have a goal to be climate positive by 2025 and we've achieved climate neutrality (removing an equal amount of carbon than we emit).

Our focus is always reducting the amount of CO2 we emit as a business. In 2021, we reduced our carbon footprint by 14 tCO2e per product by reducing our office energy usage and changing our distribution facility.

Once we can't reduce the impact any further, we work with high-quality partners like Native Energy to invest in climate projects all over the world (but as close to our customers and manufacturing partners as possible). These climate projects provide carbon offsets -- which means, they're projects that are focused on removing CO2 from the atmosphere.

We’ve always donated 1% of every purchase to nonprofit organizations. Today, we allow you to choose from a group of vetted organizations that are working for reproductive rights, racial equity, LGBTQ+ communities and climate resilience. You can select the cause you care about on your checkout page.

Have any other ideas around how we can support people doing the hard work on the ground of championing sex education? Send your ideas & questions to help@yourparade.com.

We are so excited you want to recycle your underwear with Second Life! We are charging a fee for shipping a SL package when you only order the recycling kit in order to help offset the carbon and cost of shipping something from our warehouse to you.
